Scar Therapy

As your body heals after an injury, scar tissue forms. Scar tissue is fibrotic and less mobile than pre-injury. Adhesions may form, sticking together layers under the skin. Scar therapy can help i) stimulate changes to scar tissue on the skin surface, and to adhesions or fibrosis in the underlying tissue; ii) reduce common symptoms, such as pain, sensitivity or numbness; iii) reduce tightness a... Scar therapy can help i) stimulate changes to scar tissue on the skin surface, and to adhesions or fibrosis in the underlying tissue; ii) reduce common symptoms, such as pain, sensitivity or numbness; iii) reduce tightness and improve range of movement and iv) promote functional and cosmetic improvements.

Standard treatments are 60 Minutes
Extended treatments are 90 Minutes

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle, non-invasive technique designed to stimulate the lymphatic system and flow of lymph fluid. MLD can be be effective in treating many different pathologies by supporting the body's natural healing process. It is particularly beneficial pre- and post-operatively and in the treatment and control of lymphoedema (chronic swelling).

If you do have a diagnosis of Lymphoedema then we can also provide MLD as part of a Combined Decongestive Therapy (MLD-CDT) and can support with bandaging, measuring for compression and remedial exercise. If you would like to discuss CDT then please get in touch with me prior to booking.

Initial appointments - 90 Minutes
Follow up appointments - 60 or 90 Minutes, depending on treatment plan
